Frequently Asked Questions

What is Send2Page?
Send2Page is a service that allows you to update your web pages by sending Email.
How does it work?
A small code snippet, pasted into the HTML of your web page, draws the contents of your Email onto the web page when it is viewed in the browser.
Why don't I see the Email content when I view the Page Source?
When your web page is sent down to your visitor's web browser, it does not actually include the contents of your various Emails. When the browser processes your web page, however, it retrieves then runs javascript script (the code snippet) that writes HTML for your Email into the page.
Where is the Emailed content actually kept?
When you send an Email to your special send2Page Email address, it is processed and stored onto the send2page web servers. The text is stored as HTML in a database while the images are stored as files on the hard disk.
Which types of Email are handled?
Send2Page can handle HTML Email, plain text Email and Txt/Pix Email arriving from cellular phones. Each type of Email is handled in a slightly different way as described below.
How do styles affect the appearance of Emailed content?
If your Email includes no styling such as fonts or colors, then the style of the page will determine the appearance of the Emailed content. Any formatting within the Email will add to and override that of the page.
Which Email programs can be used to send Email to send2page?
Use your favorite or most convenient Email program. Free tools such as Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail include excellent formatting options and produce very clean content that plays well on your web page. Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express offer incredible power and flexibility for formatting published content but sometimes create HTML that causes formatting issues (not a big deal.)
Is there a way to get rid of the footer paragraph that is added by some Email providers?
Most of the free tools (Hotmail, Gmail, etc.) as well as the cell phone companies will often add a block of text such as "This message sent by Verizon.." at the end of the Email. For each special send2page Email address, you can identify a word or phrase that marks the beginning of undesired text. When your Emailed content is sent down to the browser, any text including and after the phrase will be omitted. So, if you plan to send Email from your Verizon phone, you could use the phrase "This Email sent by Verizon" (or whatever their slogan happens to be.)
Can one send2page Email address be used on multiple web pages?
Yes. Any page onto which the code snippet is pasted will show the Emails sent to that send2page address.
Is there a way to limit who can send updates to my special send2page Email address?
Yes. You can require that the Email Subject must start with a secret word and you can also list the Email addresses that are allowed to send mail to each special send2page Email address.
Why do some Emails not appear on my web page?
Check your own rules to determine if you are only allowing certain senders or requiring that the subject start with a secret keyword.
Why do some Emails not reach the web page when sending from Outlook?
When forwarding messages, Outlook will sometimes wrap the Email address with single quotes (example: 'myid@send2paqe.com') which, in certain cases, does not work with our mail servers. To fix this, simply type in your special send2page Email address and do not accept Outlook's suggestion which includes quotes (note: the delete key will remove the suggestion from Outlook's list.)
